Skiing over Winter Break

0

Over winter break I went up north. First we stopped in Chicago to see family. We played in some snow piles and that’s the first time I have ever seen real snow (even though it wasn’t a lot). We met up with some family the next couple days. But then we went to Wisconsin. We stayed at the Grand Geneva Resort. In Wisconsin there was more snow than there was in Chicago.

The day after we arrived we went skiing on a hill that was close to the hotel. I have skied before and I was excited. I had lots of layers on and wasn’t cold when I was outside. When we arrived we took lessons for about 30 minutes. After I went on my first hill and it was really fun. I liked the wind blowing in my face and the speed down the hill. I wasn’t the best at the chair lift but I have gotten better over time. I rode the green trails for a while. Green trails are the easiest. But the next couple days I tried a black diamond, which is the second hardest hills. I completed the black diamond and I kept riding it until got bored. Hopefully I can go skiing again sometime because I had a great time.

Hamilton in Chicago

0

Hamilton is an American Broadway musical created by Lin-Manuel Miranda and Jeremy McCarter. The musical is about the American Revolution, politics, and the life of Alexander Hamilton. They originally presented the show in New York but they now show it in Chicago and soon London.

I took a trip to Chicago to go see the musical. I was with both my aunts and my mom. The show was in the city and there were a lot of people there. It was in a nice stage and theater. Before the performance I got a “just like my country I am young scrappy and hungry” shirt.”

My favorite part of the show the song “The Reynolds Pamphlet” because the king was in the song and was dancing which was unexpected. My favorite actor was the man who played Aaron Burr because he had lots of emotion into his lines. I hope to maybe see Hamilton again in a different city or in Chicago again.

Marco Island Vacation

0

Every year my family and I go on a trip down south to an Island called Marco Island. The Island is about thirty minutes south of Naples another beach but a larger area. We have been going to Marco Island for 12 years and I just turned 13 years old. My Nana and Papa invite my family and my aunt and uncle with their two children. Every year we have a fishing tournament. We have an award for the most fish caught and the biggest fish. The tournament is more interesting because our rental house has a dock with a canal at the back. The fish I could see were snapper, sheepshead, and catfish. But I also saw some jelly fish and a starfish.

Like always we rent a pontoon boat a go out to this small island to play in the sand and fish. My brother caught a snook and I was jealous because snook is my favorite snook to catch because I have been cautions them since I was about 6 years old. A day later we went on a charter boat to go deep sea fishing. We went on Miss Louise and fished out in the Gulf of Mexico. I caught a lot of snapper and a couple small red grouper. My Dad and Papa caught bigger red grouper and one of them was a 21 inches. At the end of the trip I caught 23 fish and only got to keep about 15 of them to eat. We had fish tacos that night. A couple days later we went to a pier and my Dad caught about a 12 inch shark and was called a bonnethead. At the end of the trip I caught the most fish with 26 and my Papa caught the biggest fish which was the grouper. One of my favorite restaurants at Marco is the sandbar. They serve bunch of small food like mini tacos, mini burgers, wings, mini hotdogs, and they are all good. My brother and I found $5 from quarters in their small arcade. I hope I will have the chance to go back with my family.

Chicago Family Trip 2016

0

Our first family trip of summer in 2016 is in Illinois. We stated in a suburb of Chicago which was Arlington Heights. We saw family from all over the state from my mom’s side. When we had a small family reunion some of the family went fishing. But we didn’t catch anything. It was nice to see everyone again.

In Arlington Heights we went to two different pools. They both had diving boards which we don’t have in Florida.  One had a high dive which was scary when you looked off the edge but it was fun jumping off. But this pool had more people then the other pool. The pool closest to where we’re saying had two regular diving boards and a water slide which end 5ft above the water. The water was 12ft deep and I jumped of the diving the board and touched the ground.

We also visited a little of down town and we went to a new museum and it was the history of TV and I would say it would be go to check it out once but I wouldn’t go back until a long time. We also visited Maggie Daily Park which is a large park pin the city and I would recommend going one day.

We went to three different beaches all on Lake Michigan, which is my favorite lake. My favorite beach we went to was Gillson Beach, I liked the most because it had large swimming areas, a decent amount of people, and no rocks. The other breaches we went to were Glencoe beach and Illinois beach state park. The state had rough waves good for surfing or skim boarding but not for swimming.

I had fun seeing some family again and getting out of the house. As a family we are driving back to Florida from Illinois and collecting all the Pokemon. #TeamBlue

Summer Vacation Adventure

0

This summer our really big vacation to Wisconsin, Illinois, Michigan and Tennessee. My mom, my brother and I went on a plane. My dad drove up so we don’t have to bring luggage every where and renting a car and dropping it off in a different state is expensive. I don’t like Southwest Airlines because there are no assigned seats. My mom was stressing that we will not find three seats together, but we did.

When we landed we traveled around the city of Chicago and we visited the Bean and Buckingham Fountain. I always like visiting the Bean and it was my first time visiting the Buckingham Fountain. For dinner we had Hackneys. This is where we met up with my dad and we all split a onion loaf. I had a burger and I ate a couple bites of a patty melt. That was my first time eating a patty melt it was really good.

After lunch we drove over to my aunts in the suburbs of Chicago, Arlington Heights. We saw their dog and my new cousin. My new cousin, Robin, is a girl and the first one on my mom’s side of the family. For dinner we had pizza. We had deep dish and flat bread pizza. I really liked it.

When we left Chicago, we went to Lake Geneva, Wisconsin.  Here we stayed at this old house with these weird rooms and only one bathroom. When we went to Wisconsin my family and I came with my cousins, the Duncans, and my uncle Katie, Jimmy, baby Robin and their dog, Penny.  The house was an upstairs and down stairs but the upstairs wouldn’t connect to the downstairs. My aunt and uncle with the dog slept downstairs and the rest of us went upstairs. Upstairs there was only one bathroom for eight people. Some rooms were weird like there was a door camouflaging and a room behind the front door and another one above the kitchen. My cousins and I learned how to play blackjack. The next day we were spending the day on the lake. We have a private dock where we fished and swam.  On the boat we went tubing. It was really wavy and chopped so there were a lot of bumps.  But it was awesome!

Here’s a video my mom made of all the tubing fun!

After we packed we hung out at my aunt’s house again and then packed up the next day we went to Michigan to play on the dunes. We rented a sled to ride down the dunes but it was really hot and when you go down you have to walk up in the really hot sand. When I was climbing up the dune it felt like my feet was on fire. I did not like it at all. Then we left and got ice-cream. I got an Oreo ice-cream. We drove to Indiana and stayed at a hotel there.

The next day it was my birthday. On my birthday we drove down to Tennessee to stay at a log cabin for a few days. It was cool because it had a movie theater and we were on a mountain. The town around it was kind of weird because it had like three go kart places right next to each other. There was also weird named places. At the cabin we were staying with some of my uncles friends. One day we went zip lining which was kind of fun. But after was whitewater rafting. That was really cool. No one from our boat fell off but someone else we know did fall off a different boat. When we came back we decided to go to a roller coaster on a mountain/hill. It was a coaster that you can control your own speed and it was dark so lights lighted up. It was scary at night but fun. After we drove back to the cabin and watched a movie. On the last day we went on a hike in the mountains. At the end was waterfall that you can step into the stream. It was really tiring up hill but easier down hill. Later that night most of our group went hillbilly golfing. It is mini golfing but down hill. I didn’t go because I was tried and I didn’t think it would that fun because it is just golfing. The day after is when we had to leave and pack up. We headed out and we stopped at the Cherokee Indian Reservation and went tubing. It wasn’t fast tubing but it was like lazy river tubing. Almost at the end was a rope swing which led to a deep part which was awesome. After we were finished we started driving home and we made it safely the next day.

Spring Break!

0

Spring break!!!!!! I just came off of school Friday because of teacher work day which means I have extra day off. I am really excited what is to come. But on Saturday and Sunday we already had something planned. My brother and I were going to Universal with my cousins. We were going to the parks and going to sleep over at their hotel Royal Pacific.

On Saturday we went to Universal Studios first. I walked around with my cousins by our selves because my oldest cousin is old enough to do that plus he had his phone. First we went on Top Thrill Dragster it was amazing. I like that you can pick your song for the ride and it matches with the ride. We then went on Men in Black. We went on it once then my aunt asked us if we could go to a “secret” place where there is some chairs and desks in the middle of the waiting line. Then the person that worked there gave us some tips because his high score is 999999 and he said to hold down the trigger and shoot your own target. We went on it again and I got a higher score but not 999999. We went to Harry Potter which I had Ice Cream butter beer. It is soft served ice cream with butter beer on it (Butter beer had no alcohol in it). We also went to sling field and had a big donut from Lard Lad Donuts. After that we walked back to the hotel and we all went into the pool.

After the hotel we went to Universal’s island of adventure. We went to Hulk but then my brother was not tall enough. So we went on Doctors Doom’s Drop. It was also my first time on that and the only scary part was the begging when it lifts you off because the rest you can look at the city or the rest of the park. Then we went on Spider-Man and we were stuck on it for a couple minutes and then it moved back with out volume then everything was back to normal. My younger cousin was a little weird and went on a water ride saying he won’t get wet but after he got soaked. I didn’t want to go on because I didn’t want to walk with wet cloths every where. After went on Jurassic Park which is a water ride but if someone is i front of you, you won’t get wet. I barley got wet. After we went to Dragons Challenge we snuck my brother in and at the last moment when we were at the gate to go the guy needed to check his height and my brother couldn’t go on because he was centimeter short so he had to wait in the child swap and I felt bad because he wanted to go on it but at the last moment he could not. We went back to hulk because my aunt and uncle came back had my brother but we walked over to it and it was closed  my little cousin was really mad.

We went back to the hotel went swimming for a little bit and we went to bed. We woke up in the morning packed and went swimming again and then left.

The Scottish Highland Games

1

We went to the Highland games on Sunday on a 4 day weekend. The Highland games is a Scottish Festival. They have game when you have to carry stone that weigh about 200lbs. Who ever has to gets the farthest for the day will get a prize, but I don’t know what. We walked around tents that had clan names. I bought a wooden dagger and my brother bought a bow and an arrow with pencil eraser on the tip. I had a sausage on a hotdog bun and it was delicious. Then are cousins came and we started playing games on a hill. While we were playing games were listening to Scottish music.

The next day we went to St.Augustine to go see the lights everywhere. We started to walk around and we went into some stores and looked around. We walked around but did not go inside the college that is there. We ate at a place called Columbia. It was a fancy Spanish place. We had sausage, scallops, chicken and cheese, shrimp, cheese, and bread with butter. It was great. After we walked around and I got soft severed ice cream. But after I felt like I was going to explode. We went home I slept in the car on the way back and we got there around 9:00pm. I had a great 4 day weekend.
